There are many factors to consider when planning your hiking itinerary. One very important factor is how best to plan your itinerary for your body in order to prevent injury. As a physiotherapist and an avid hiker I have seen firsthand how many hikers of all ages and abilities suffer injuries while on trail.
I outline my 10-step process to thru-hiking meal prep and provide downloadable versions of my meal plan for you in this post (including links to recipes I used).
A 178 km trail near Powell River, British Columbia. The elevation of the trail ranges from sea-level to 1,300 meters.
A four day winter ski traverse on skis near Whistler, BC, Canada. Although this route is close to the popular Whistler Ski Resort, once out on the traverse you feel incredibly isolated. This route is technical with lots of glacier travel and some technical downhill chutes.
A two day climb of Mount Baker in Washington, USA. This is a mountaineering route with glacier travel. We climbed this route with boots and crampons, leaving our skis at home.
